In rural Africa, histories, guidance and proverbs are largely unwritten.
They are shared around a fireplace or under a tree. As a result, most of this oral-based wisdom remains undocumented, and is at risk of being lost due to modern trends. Sadly, younger generations are urbanising and losing connections with traditions, and perhaps even the passion to be mentored by elders.
Our Living Heritage Legacy values and recycles these old ways.
The rites of passage, ancestral leadership principles, and sustainable practices ... the ancient patterns of life, as held by any indigenous culture on earth ... are essential for modern man to re-connect with.
To embody the timeless life-centric values embedded in traditional wisdom. Core principles rooted in balance, dignity, humility, togetherness and care of the land.
Our vision re-connects this traditional wisdom with present leadership. To remind us all that true enduring guidance emerges from life-centric purpose and inter-connectedness.

Traditional wisdoms are not relics of the past.
Like all indigenous traditions around the world, these values are timeless, and remain profoundly relevant today. They are able to inspire a intrinsic sense of meaning, one deeply rooted in custodianship and care. To help us transform our flawed modern leadership models. To integrate nature and human inspired ethics that can endure modern day challenges.
Lead Wild is on a mission.
We have gained so much over the years from wise elders. And “in our last stones”, we want to contribute in some small way by honouring, capturing, and sharing the living heritage that these living ancestors offer.
We have formed the LIVING HERITAGE LEGACY.
Our undertaking is currently three-fold:
1. To gather, interpret and preserve insights, wisdoms, and nostalgia from inspiring elders.
2. To network a stipend fund whereby aspiring young guides can be mentored by a seasoned, experienced master guide. To pass on the wisdom baton to younger generations.
3. To support elderly guides who maybe find themselves vulnerable, with basic provisions and care.

THE VISION: A WIN-WIN-WIN!
The first WIN: What the elders gain
1. Recognition and respect: Their knowledge and life experience is valued and honoured.
2. Engagement and purpose: They actively mentor the next generation, sharing skills and stories. They are significant! They have a role, and they will be remembered through this mentorship.
3. Support and care: Care packs and basic provisions acknowledge their contribution and provide practical support, love, and kindness.
4. Cultural preservation: They help ensure their traditions, skills, and wisdom endure. Their legacy prevails.

1. Practical skills and mentorship. An immeasurable bridge between the past and the future, grounding present actions in a wealth of accumulated knowledge and emotional intelligence. This is beyond the scope of a textbook.
2. Cultural grounding: Re-energised appreciation of traditional knowledge. Wisdom and perspective. A broader nuanced viewpoint of long-term consequences.
3. Career pathway: A structured route into a respected profession.
4. Inter-generational equity: Custodianship of a future legacy.
5. Connection and Belonging: Enriching both the mentor and the mentee.
6. Personal growth: Mentorship fosters confidence, leadership, and connection to the land. Potential of recycling these gifts.
